Terms of Use

Last updated: June 3, 2026

1. Introduction and Acceptance of Terms

Welcome to Canada Power Insider. These Terms of Use ("Terms") form a legally binding agreement between you and Canada Power Insider regarding your access to and use of the website located at canadapowerinsider.com, including all editorial articles, advertorial guides, and the installer matching lead form offered on it. Canada Power Insider is an independent Canadian consumer-energy publisher that produces sponsored editorial content about residential rooftop solar for Canadian homeowners. We are a media publisher, not a solar installer, contractor, equipment retailer, lender, or licensed financial advisor.

By accessing the Site, reading our Content, or submitting the "Get Matched with Certified Installers" lead form, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must stop using the Site immediately. Because we do not offer user accounts or process any online payments, your acceptance is signalled solely by your continued use of the Site and by any voluntary submission of the lead form.

2. Definitions

For clarity throughout these Terms, the following capitalized words carry the meanings set out below:

3. Nature of the Service and Editorial / Sponsored-Content Disclosure

It is essential that you understand exactly what the Site is and what it is not. Canada Power Insider publishes editorial and advertorial guides designed to help Canadian homeowners understand the economics, rebates, net metering rules, financing options, and practical realities of residential rooftop solar. The Site exists to inform and to connect interested homeowners with installers — it does not exist to perform installations.

We disclose the following clearly and prominently, and you accept it as a condition of using the Site:

Before making any decision about a solar installation, you should obtain independent quotes, verify provincial rebate and net metering programs directly with the relevant authorities, and consult qualified professionals.

4. Lead Form and Third-Party Installers

The Lead Form collects your full name, email address, postal code, and an optional message. Submitting the Lead Form is a request to be matched with Third-Party Installers operating in or near your area; it is not a contract, a binding quote, or a commitment to purchase anything. By submitting the Lead Form, you authorize the Publisher to share the information you provide with one or more Third-Party Installers and their partner networks so that they may contact you.

Our role is limited to matching

The Publisher does not employ, control, supervise, license, or guarantee any Third-Party Installer. We are not a party to any agreement, quote, contract, warranty, or transaction that you may enter into with a Third-Party Installer. Accordingly:

5. User Obligations

As a condition of using the Site, you agree that you will:

6. Intellectual Property

All Content on the Site, including the editorial articles, advertorial guides, text, graphics, images, page design, layout, and the Canada Power Insider name and logo, is owned by or licensed to the Publisher and is protected under the Copyright Act, R.S.C. 1985, c. C-42, applicable trademark law, and other intellectual property laws of Canada and international treaties.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and view the Content for your personal, non-commercial use. You may not reproduce, republish, distribute, modify, adapt, translate, frame, sell, or create derivative works from the Content without the Publisher's prior written consent. The Canada Power Insider name and logo may not be used in any manner that could cause confusion or imply endorsement without our express permission.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Site and all Content are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Publisher disclaims all implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Content is accurate, complete, current, or error-free, that the Site will be uninterrupted or secure, or that any matching with a Third-Party Installer will result in a satisfactory quote, installation, or outcome. Any reliance you place on the Content, including any savings estimate, is strictly at your own risk.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Publisher, together with its owners, editors, contributors, and partners, shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, punitive, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of profits, savings, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Site or the Content.

In particular, and without limiting the foregoing, the Publisher shall have no liability for any decision you make based on the editorial estimates, savings figures, or other information presented on the Site, nor for the acts, omissions, services, quotes, or conduct of any Third-Party Installer. Where liability cannot be excluded by law, our total aggregate liability to you for all claims shall not exceed one hundred Canadian dollars (CAD 100).

9. Third-Party Links

The Site may contain links to, or load resources from, third-party websites and services that we do not own or control, including:

We provide these links for convenience only. The Publisher does not endorse and is not responsible for the content, accuracy, privacy practices, or availability of any third-party site. Accessing third-party sites is at your own risk and subject to their own terms and policies.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Publisher and its owners, editors, contributors, and partners from and against any claims, demands, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the Site; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any applicable law or the rights of any third party; or (d) any information you submit through the Lead Form.

11. Force Majeure

The Publisher shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, natural disasters, severe weather, fire, flood, power or internet outages, failures of hosting or third-party service providers, labour disputes, governmental actions, civil unrest, pandemics, or any other event of force majeure.

12. Privacy

Your privacy matters to us. Our collection, use, and disclosure of the personal information you provide through the Lead Form — including how it may be shared with Third-Party Installers — is described in our Privacy Policy. By using the Site and submitting the Lead Form, you consent to the practices described there. The Privacy Policy is incorporated into and forms part of these Terms.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, our Content, or applicable law. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will take effect when posted. Your continued use of the Site after a revision constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms, so we encourage you to review this page periodically.

14. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or your use of the Site are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Canada and the laws of the applicable province in which you reside, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. You agree that any dispute that cannot be resolved informally shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of competent jurisdiction in Canada.

Before initiating any formal proceeding, we encourage you to contact us so that we may attempt to resolve the matter amicably. Nothing in these Terms limits any consumer-protection rights you may have under the mandatory laws of your province.

15. Contact

If you have any questions about these Terms, the Content, or the Lead Form, please contact the Publisher at editorial@canadapowerinsider.com. We will make reasonable efforts to respond to legitimate inquiries in a timely manner.
